IPSEC and VPN SSL IPSEC VPN’s were originally developed to enable site-to-site communications between branch offices, using the public network was a cost effective way of simulating a wide area network without the usual high costs associated. As these networks developed remote users access needs started to be identified, and extensions had to be added to the standard. However IPSEC does have it limitations with flexibility and certain network topology i.e. network address translation, proxy filtering etc. To get around the limitations an offshoot was created to develop a secure yet flexible solution; SSL matured quickly and addressed these issues. Due to its strengths it is now being used for mobile working which is now becoming extremely common. Mobile working is only ever as fast, secure and flexible as the underlying infrastructure. That’s why organisations require a network that lives up to the promise of their mobility strategy. Most SME would like to mobilise their workers and provide access for clients and suppliers to their network, however, usually this would be expensive and difficult to install and manage. RETP now provide a high level security appliance that provides such functionality starting from £595.00 making secure remote working accessible for all companies. There are no ongoing costs usually associated with such devices meaning no licensing and the ability of the range to run from 10 to 1000 concurrent users. Organisations today recognise the role that mobility can play in their business. It is at last possible for employees to work from home or on the move with the same acces to resources in the office. Nevertheless, it is important for organisations to remember the vulnerability that this kind of empowerment creates. Addressing the underlying infrastructure is a mission critical step, and RETP Solutions is uniquely equipped to help the SME marketplace overcome it. The IPSEC standard is still fine when connecting remote offices to the internal corporate network. Using the V-Range series of communication devices allows users to use a variety of communication protocols within a single device. IPSEC, SSL VPN and Microsoft technology are all supported within one device thus giving IT department’s massive flexibility when connecting remote offices, road warriors and business partners or customers. It is worth noting that the IPSEC solution within the V-Range is not restricted in the IPSEC standards it supports and can work with the majority of other commercial solution, i.e. Netscreen, Nortel, Cisco etc, thus meaning that you do not need to throw out any existing technology. RETP believe that a VPN solution should very secure, quick to set-up and be highly configurable, the solution works with any number of routers available in today’s marketplace and unlike many of our competitors clients as mentioned are not shackled by licenses. Each solution comes with no license issues and an organisation is only limited by the hardware as we recommend limits on each of the products, however the solution is available in a download format that can be installed on any hardware a client may have. Device Encryption and User Authentication The V-Range solution offers a variety of encryption methods that include Advanced Encryption Standard 256bit/192bit/128bit AES, Data Encryption Standard 168 bits 3DES, DES, 128 bit Blowfish, Twofish and a variety of others. The reason we offer so many encryption solution is that it offers true flexibility with other systems. The user authentication is achieved by an encrypted digital certificate also a user name and password as a further level of authentication to gain access to corporate networks. The VRange solution is total flexible and is able to offer highly secure and cost effective solution, we believe that organisations should have access to solutions that are not over priced and very easy to implement and manage.
